I’m on a journey to age well. I want to look and feel my best. We’re living longer and how we age has a profound positive or negative impact on our life experience.
I believe women are no longer willing to accept that getting older means a diminishing quality of life. It’s not about getting our thirties back. It’s about maintaining or reclaiming health, vitality, and looking beautiful as we age.
I’ve had the luxury of excellent genes and have been blessed with a healthy body. I’ve never broken a bone or had stitches. The only medication I’m on is bioidentical hormones -you can read that story here. I don’t have any chronic disease or major illness. But when I reached 50, I was caught off-guard with severe menopausal symptoms.
I literally felt like I turned into an old lady overnight. My joints ached, I had plantar fasciitis and was angry a lot. Fortunately, I resolved those symptoms with hormone replacement therapy and weight loss. What that experience taught me was – I wanted to do whatever it took to age well. It was a wakeup call to nurture my health and vitality.
I’m a former hairstylist and loved talking to my clients about what we were doing to look and feel youthful. I loved it so much I decided to write about it. My purpose in doing this is to discover and share information, through my personal experience, to improve my/our aging experience.
